Colorado Foreclosure Hotline to Continue

Some more good news for the Colorado foreclosures market. The Colorado foreclosure hotline will maintain operations for at least 2 more years thanks to a $600,000 grant. This is good news all around. Not only will it help more homeowners avoid foreclosure, but the reduction in foreclosures this hotline provides will improve the overall market.

The Colorado Foreclosure Hotline will continue to operate for at least two more years, thanks in part to a $600,000 grant from the Colorado Attorney General’s office, it announced Thursday.

Brothers Redevelopment, a nonprofit company, manages the hotline, which allows homeowners to tap into a network of 24 U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development  U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development approved housing counseling agencies.

The hotline, 1-877-601-4673, fields an average of 3,000 calls per month with advice on how to avoid foreclosure and different options available. Since the hotline was formed in 2006, more than 140,000 people have called and counselors have helped some 30,000 homeowners.

Highlands Ranch Fireworks

Highlands Ranch FireworksThe annual Highlands Ranch Fireworks show is all set for this July 4th. It’s a little difficult to find all of the information online, so I wanted to post it here.

there are several great viewing areas. If you like to be close to tha action hang out at Town Center Highlands Ranch to get a good view or lay out a blanket at Civic Center Park near the library.

Some of the local Churches offer some nice big parking lots and are on a hill offering a great view of the show. We’ll be viewing it from our Church, Mission Hills Church, located just west of Broadway and north of County Line rd.

Denver Home Prices up 1.5% in April from March

 Some good news for Denver homes for sale today from the Denver Business Journal. While year over year home prices have declined, we’re starting to see a slow up trend in month over month statistics.

This news corresponds to what we’ve been seeing for a few months now. While the data always lags (these statistics are for April) over the last several months we’ve been seeing much more activity and many competing bids – especially for Denver HUD homes and Denver foreclosures.

Also, keep in mind these stats cover the entire Denver Metro area. Many citys, neighborhood and subdivisions lie on both extremes of the scale. For example, run down Aurora HUD homes can sit on the market for months while Highlands Ranch foreclosures tend to remain on the market longer than a week.

From The Denver Business Journal: Denver home prices down in April from 2010, but up from March

Home prices in Denver recorded a year-over-year decline in April for the 10th consecutive month, but they rose from the previous month for the first time since June 2010, according to the latest S&P/Case-Shiller Home Prices Index, released Tuesday.

The average home price fell by 4.1 percent in Denver in the 12 months ending April 2011, while the 20-city composite index declined by 4 percent during the same period.

Only Washington, D.C., posted a year-over-year price gain, with a 4 percent increase. The greatest decline — 11.1 percent — was in Minneapolis.

But Denver home prices rose 1.5 percent in April from the previous month, more than twice the 20-city growth rate of 0.7 percent. It was Denver’s first month-over-month price gain in 10 months.
